PAUL STANLEY Talks About New Solo Album, Says There Are No Plans For New KISS CD
April 23, 2004KISS guitarist/vocalist Paul Stanley recently spoke to Australia's The Sunday Mail about his upcoming solo album, tentatively due before the end of the year.
"The easiest thing would be for me to do a one-man KISS album," Stanley said. "That I could do in my sleep. But there's no appeal — it would be too predictable and too boring for me."
Stanley also revealed that, contrary to recent published reports, there are no plans for another KISS studio album.
"I'm a bit ambivalent about that," Stanley said. "All of our older songs have become so big over time. And I'd have to admit that [new material] could never have those connotations and connections to people.
"A lot of people would automatically think that [the new stuff] is not as good, even though it might be better. So why would you bother?"
According to Paul, during the KISS' last Australian tour (which produced the acclaimed "KISS Symphony: Alive IV" collection),the band were thinking that it would be their final foray on to the boards Down Under.
"No doubt," Stanley admitted. "It wasn't as though we'd had enough of touring. There were some feelings within the band that were not — I want to be as politically correct as possible — let's just say the band was not thinking as a band anymore. There were people with different opinions. Individual agendas.
"I've always firmly believed that a team is bigger than any one player. But it's unflattering for any of us to start airing the dirty laundry.
"I believe that it's a small person who tries to make himself feel big by making someone else feel smaller.
"But still, I wish everybody the best."
